Haydn Jessup, CSW
Haydn joined the Alpine Academy team in the spring of 2018. He holds a Master of Social Work degree from Brigham Young University (BYU). He is trained in Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Prior to joining the Alpine Academy team, Haydn worked with adults in substance abuse treatment in Salt Lake City, where he honed his skills in treating addiction and the behaviors that come with it.
While in his master’s program, Haydn’s studies focused primarily on family systems and attachment theories. He completed two internships focused on clinical services with youth and their families, one at a youth crisis shelter, where he gained experience in assessing youth, providing individual and group therapy, and assisting youth and their families in accessing needed clinical resources. The second was as a social worker with a local school district, where he intervened in crises, participated in IEP meetings, provided group and individual therapy, and helped families and youth resolve concerns. His bachelor’s, also from BYU, was in Spanish Translation, with a minor in Psychology.
Haydn values his role as therapist because he loves helping families discover their strengths and teaching them how to use those to improve their relationships. Personally, he enjoys playing sports, longboarding, hiking and just being outside. Family is his first priority, and his greatest joy comes in spending time with them.
