Residential Model

The residential model at Alpine Academy stands out as one of our most unique programmatic elements. This model focuses upon psycho-educational skill development and clinical support delivered in a family-like setting which replicates “real life.”

Skill Building Is The Goal

The ultimate goal for parents is for their child to be successful at home, and research supports therapeutic interventions that allow a child to replicate skills in a setting that is most like reality. Alpine achieves this by creating a family and community setting in which the students live, learn, recreate, and most importantly, receive valuable therapeutic services. Alpine students reside in a home with live-in treatment providers called Family-Teachers.

Family-Teachers are a married couple who reside in the home and act as full-time treatment providers. This professional parent couple provides the most unique form of treatment intervention available. In addition to seeing to the day-to-day care and coordination of treatment, they also provide 24-hour teaching and development around the individual treatment goals of each youth in their home.

This model reduces instances of manipulation, triangulation, and lack of consistency that can result from a shift staff model.

    The Teaching Family Model

The psycho-educational skills development is delivered through the Teaching-Family Model. The Teaching-Family Model is one of the most researched and respected models of intervention in use today. This model provides the foundation for the level system, therapeutic curriculum, and philosophy of everything in place at Alpine Academy. All residential staff are either certified, or working toward certification, in this internationally recognized treatment approach.

The Teaching-Family Model has allowed Alpine to create a microcosm of real life experiences which reinforce opportunities for a student to learn and grow in a setting that is most conducive to their return home. Alpine’s residential model paired with individual, family, and group therapy creates a clinical intensity that is effective, collaborative, and the foundation for sustainable change.
