
Brett Burton
Brett Burton brings a unique blend of expertise and enthusiasm to Alpine Academy as a substitute teacher. With a PhD in bioengineering and years of experience in medical device research and entrepreneurship, Brett has a knack for connecting academic concepts to real-world applications. His deep understanding of mathematics and biology enables him to answer the age-old student question, “Why should I care about this?” with engaging and practical examples.
After earning his doctorate in 2018, Brett worked with innovative medical startups, eventually serving as Vice President of R&D and a board member for Second Heart Assist. In 2023, he transitioned to consulting and is now launching ventures in the bariatric and hospitality spaces while sharing his passion for learning as a substitute teacher.
Outside the classroom, Brett is a proud father of five and an avid triathlete. He enjoys cycling, 3D printing, and watching murder mysteries with his wife. A committed community member, Brett supports his kids’ robotics team, organizes local events, and actively participates in church-sponsored youth programs. Whether he’s mentoring students or pursuing new challenges, Brett thrives on making a positive impact.
