At Alpine Academy we understand the importance of medical and psychiatric treatment in conjunction with mental health services to deliver a well rounded, overall treatment experience.
Alpine Academy has a medical coordinator and registered nurse that work with the residential staff and parents to coordinate medical care. There are local physicians, dentists, orthodontists and hospitals that are easily accessed when necessary for physical health needs, illness, accidents, as well as dental and orthodontic work.
Alpine Academy is fortunate to be associated with the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Utah. Our student’s psychiatric needs are overseen by a Board-certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist.
During the initial assessment period, each student will be assigned to a primary psychiatrist. Her assigned psychiatrist will complete an initial psychiatric evaluation upon reviewing historical documents, interview with students and parents, and after contacting previous prescribing doctors. The psychiatrist will see the student each month for on-going medication management.
Alpine Academy coordinates with a local pharmacy to fill and refill prescription medication as well as most over-the-counter medication. Medication services are overseen by the medical coordinator.
