Medical & Psychiatric
At Alpine Academy, we understand the importance of medical and psychiatric treatment in conjunction with mental health services to deliver a well-rounded overall treatment experience.
Medical Services
Alpine Academy has a Pharmacy Technician and Registered Nurse on staff that works with parents and the residential staff to coordinate medical care. There are local physicians, dentists, orthodontists, and hospitals that are easily accessed when necessary for physical health needs, illness, and accidents as well as for dental and orthodontic work. Office visits are coordinated by Family-Teachers.
Psychiatric Services
Alpine Academy is fortunate to be associated with the Huntsman Mental Health Institute, a division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Utah, formerly known as UNI. Our student’s psychiatric needs are overseen by a Board-certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist.
During the initial assessment period, each student will be assigned to a primary psychiatrist. Their assigned psychiatrist will complete an initial psychiatric evaluation upon reviewing historical documents, interviews with students and parents, and contact with previous prescribing physicians. The psychiatrist will see the student each month for ongoing medication management.
Prescription Services
Alpine Academy coordinates with a local pharmacy to fill and refill prescription medication as well as most over-the-counter medication.
Medication services are overseen by the Pharmacy Technician.
